Best Greens Powders UK

Greens powders are often referred to as a super greens or green superfood powders due to the nutrient dense ingredients and claimed health benefits – especially on the immune system. From micronutrients to vitamins, manufacturers of ground up greens supplements use different combinations of ingredients that can boost your body with antioxidants from plant-based proteins and amino acids.

If your main concern is getting more daily vitamins and minerals or just a better way to get more nutrients into your body, greens powder might help. I’ve reviewed the best in the UK, their ingredients, claimed benefits and where to buy them.

7 Best Greens Powders UK to buy

Below is my overview of the greens powders in the UK in a top list available to purchase now.

SuperGreen TONIK – Best Greens Powder UK

Supergreen Tonik

What you’ll like

  • High quality nutrients
  • Premium leafy greens
  • Good dosing per ingredient
  • Can be as low as $65 per tub
  • Low cost shipping to UK
  • 10% discount code “SUPPLEMENTS10”

The “Ultimate Human Fuel,” SuperGreen TONIK is an advanced supergreens powder formula that boasts of an advanced formula to improve energy, boost focus, and give users better sleep, immunity, and lower stress levels.

Super Green Tonik Ingredients

Its complex and comprehensive blend of vitamins and minerals, organic plant based ingredients, and overall non-GMO formula checks out on quality and value. In terms of it’s vitamin content it covers off 90% of your daily requirements meaning you’re realistically covered for the whole day.

The backbone of the greens blend is Spirulina, Spinach and Kale. With Spirulina being by far the best bulk ingredient in greens powders as a whole with a host of health benefits, most notably improving your immune system. It’s been shown to boost white blood cell activity beyond just the benefit from the vitamins and minerals it contains.

But, the real victory that keeps SuperGreen Tonik in our number one spot going into 2023, is the fact that it has a transparent formula and a host of ingredients that the competitor brands simply don’t have. Take for example it’s 600mg dose of Ashwagandha, which has been proven to improve sleep quality, reduce stress and improve mood. A few other greens include it, but usually part of proprietary blends that mathematically can’t contain enough of the herb to be within the effective range. There’s about a dozen other examples of this exact same pattern.

Super Green Tonik Taste

It is also one of the better tasting greens powders available in the UK at the moment, with the berry flavour being a particular favourite for the Supplements Reviews team. It also mixes pretty well and whilst the mint flavour is also good we would always like to see more flavour varieties.

Customer Reviews

In terms of verified customer reviews Super Green Tonik is also one of, if not the best greens powder in the UK, meaning it scores well for customer support as well as the products performance.

Super Green Tonik – Best Greens Powder Conclusion

Honestly, we wouldn’t recommend anything else. Super Green Tonik Powder scores highly on customer reviews, taste, mixability and is a league ahead of the competition in terms of health benefits.

  • High amounts of essential vitamins, most at 100% NRV
  • Contains no blends
  • All the ingredients you would expect from a high quality greens powder including spirulina

Longevity Stack Supergreens – Best Greens Powder for increasing healthspan

Longevity Stack Supergreens

Benefits I think you’ll like

  • 100 ingredients
  • 100% vegan
  • High amounts of essential vitamins
  • Contains blends including
  • – Alkaline Raw Superfood Complex
  • – Herds & Antioxidants
  • – Enzime & Mushroom Complex
  • – Probiotics & Amino Acids
  • Can buy 12 months pack and save
  • Often have a sale if you sign up for the newsletter

Longevity Stack Supergreens contains 100 superfoods, vitamins, probiotics, adaptogens and digestive enzymes, according to the manufacturers.

The blends are packed with ingredients and it’s just a shame that I don’t know how much of each ingredient is in each blend. I have been assured that these blends are unique to the product so you won’t find them anywhere else

Longevity Stack Supergreens Ingredients

This greens powder certainly packs in the ingredients into each 10mg serving, making it a viable alternative to both AG1 and SuperGreen TONIK and at half of the price of both, it wins out as our best value for money greens powder.

The vitamin complex has some relatively high levels against your daily RDI’s for most essential micro nutrients, which is fantastic. It does make for a good vitamins and minerals replacement, if you already take a multi vitamin there will be no need here, but be aware, like others, there is no vitamin D3 in the powder, so you will still need to take that separately (I wash my vitamin D3 tablet down with the greens powder!)

Longevity Stack Supergreens Taste

The taste at the start is about what you’d expect, grassy and plain, not bad, but then there is a hint of sweetness which comes from the added sweetener (although this isn’t on the ingredients).

Unlike other products the taste isn’t unpleasant, although there is only one flavour, I actually look forward to drinking it first thing.

Customer Reviews of Longevity Stack Supergreens

This is a relatively new product so there are very few customer reviews on their website for this product. However there are plenty of satisfied customers for the other products offered by the manufacturer – Longevity Box – so I’m sure there will be plenty of people who, like me, find this a really good product.

Longevity Stack Supergreens Conclusion

I think this is a really good example of the super greens powder, packed full of vitamins, minerals and other goodies that put it on a par with AG1 and SuperGreen TONIK but without the price tag.

The product is aimed at the growing longevity market, for people who want to live longer in better health, as apposed to just living longer. However, I think this product is good enough for anyone who wants to take a greens powder but not pay the higher prices for the other brands.

If you already take a multi vitamin, you should possibly choose a green powder with no added vits as this packs way over the RDA for most of the daily vitamins – for this I would try Lean Greens Super Powder as it has no added vitamins

Super Greens Extreme – Best Value Greens Powder UK

Super Greens Extreme

Benefits I think you’ll like

  • Premium Greens Blend
  • 20 different ingredients
  • Low sugar
  • 100% of daily vitamin C per serving
  • 100% vegan
  • Contains Ashwagandha, Yerba Mate, Spirulina, Spinach and Broccoli
  • 5 flavours available
  • 85% off SALE – No Code Required

Super Greens Extreme is an innovative, plant-based supplement that will help you be healthier, according to the manufacturers.

With over 20 different superfoods, rich in their antioxidant power, the ingredients will boosts energy, immunity and improves focus.

Super Greens Extreme Ingredients

Super Greens extreme is by no means as good as Super Green Tonik, however, it is a 3rd of the price, meaning that it wins out as our best value greens powder.

In terms of general greens it’s a little heavier on the grasses, which do have some health benefits, but not nearly as much as spirulina and spinach which are in lower volumes than AG1 or SGT. The vitamin complex only covers 15% of your daily RDI’s for most essential micro nutrients, which again isn’t fantastic. But, it does still make for a good top up especially if you know you’re going to be missing a meal, or just not quite getting your vitamins and minerals, but generally eat reasonably healthy. We don’t recommend it as a drink and forget greens powder though.

Super Greens Extreme Taste

There are quite a few options with Super Greens and the mixability on all of them is good. The orange and tropical are the better two flavours and whilst the mixed berry is good SGT’s is better as Super Greens is a little artificial. The original is about what you’d expect, grassy and plain, not bad, but not for most people unless you’re mixing it with juice.

Customer Reviews of Super Greens

Customer reviews are pretty positive, a few people don’t like the taste, and some noted it wasn’t the best for health benefits, but then it’s a budget option so this is to be expected. All in all most people would benefit from a greens powder, the same way the majority of the population would benefit from a multivitamin, so most greens powders are reviewed favourably.

Super Greens Extreme Conclusion

It’s also not great for beneficial herbs or extracts, but if you’re just looking for something easy and cheap to bulk up your vitamins and minerals, using it to cover a few extra bases first thing in the morning, the Super Greens Extreme is a decent option for saving a bit of cash.

Lean Greens Super Green Powder

Lean Greens

Benefits you will like include:

  • Made in the UK
  • Concentrated doses of each ingredient
  • Has some of the best organic ingredients in the industry
  • Simple formula
  • Great value for money

Lean Greens is a company that’s got quite a reputation when it comes to their wellness food supplements, and their flagship product Super Greens Powder is definitely a good example of it. At first glance, you’d think there’s nothing special about their formula, but the 15g serving of all-natural greens might just surprise you.

Their simplistic approach to the formula means they only use eight ingredients, but all of them are in potent dosages. Then of course, we also have to realise that each and every one of these greens are in concentrated form. This means a single serving of Super Greens can quite literally mean eating multiple whole vegetables in one go, and we think that is amazing and a gold standard for many greens powders.

On top of the formula, I also like how it provides value per serving. It’s not overpriced, but just enough to tell you they worked hard to come up with such a premium formula.

Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens

Benefits you’ll like

  • Unique blend on essential fatty acids
  • Separate cruciferous vegetables blend
  • May help suppress appetite
  • 65 servings per tub

Athletic Greens is scientifically formulated to have no less than 62 phytonutrients from natural extracts, probiotics, prebiotics, plant enzymes, cruciferous vegetables, and essential fatty acids. It’s one of the few greens powders out there that actually put the spotlight on essential fatty acids, the same fatty acids that have benefits to heart and brain health.

We can’t really talk about Greens Powders without mentioning AG1, now it’s not the best, but it is the most popular. Unfortunately it underdoses a few ingredients that Super Green Tonik has in their full doses. That means it’s a little bit further down the list. It tastes pretty good and mixes well, but it’s far from the best greens powder right now.

When first released they were lightyears ahead of the competition, but with a proprietary blend hiding a lot of the ingredients exact volumes, and it being mathematically impossible for them all to be functional, AG1 prefers to market itself as having a lot in, but ultimately less substance than our number one rated greens powder.

Naked Nutrition Green Superfood Powder – Best Greens Powder Without Sweetener

Naked Nutrition Green Superfood Powder

Benefits of Naked Greens you might like:

  • Ships to the UK
  • Dairy and gluten free
  • Vegan friendly
  • Keto friendly

Naked Greens is a daily greens powder blend containing six different organic vegetables and grasses along with organic prebiotics, probiotics, and adaptogens.

Naked Nutrition Greens contains no additives or artificial sweeteners, like a lot of others do. Which is really the only reason it makes it onto our list, if you want to avoid anything artificial then it’s an option.

Naked Greens Ingredients

In terms of whether or not it’s any good, it’s a 3/5 for nutrition.  And ironically considering their marketing states “we’ve got nothing to hide” they use a proprietary blend.

The backbone is kale and broccoli which isn’t the best option when it comes to leafy greens, but at least it contains the best immune boosting ingredient for greens in spirulina although in lower doses than SGT or Super Greens Extreme.

Now, we should mention that as it only contains relatively few ingredients for a greens powder, it is actually possible that everything in here is dosed correctly, for example ashwagandha at a minimum of 400mg or ginseng at 200mg as well as the grasses and green vegetables.

Naked Nutrition Customer Reviews

The customer reviews are generally very good, although a lot of people don’t like the taste without the artificial sweeteners, so it really comes down to weather or not you want to avoid them.

Naked Greens Taste

Naked Greens powder is best added to smoothies but it can also be used to create other greens powder recipes. It doesn’t taste awful, but it’s far from the best.

Naked Greens Conclusion

Naked Greens are a 3/5 option, but if you’re looking for greens powders without artificial sweeteners, then this is the one for you as you’ll be hard pressed to find anything more comprehensive that doesn’t contain at least something to sweeten the taste.

Bulk Complete Greens

Bulk Complete Greens

You’ll like

  • One of the biggest brands in the UK
  • Basic greens formula
  • Vegetarian/Vegan
  • No allergens
  • High fibre

When it comes to greens powders, companies try to pack as many greens and fruits (extracts) as possible into one serving. Many companies get this right, especially since it’s not that difficult to blend vegetable and fruits (extracts). Some companies don’t agree with the idea of throwing in as many other ingredients as possible and in the context of formula potency and synergy, this has value. In fact, it’s better to have few yet potent ingredients in one formula in any kind of greens supplement.

Then you have the likes of Complete Greens from Bulk (formerly Bulk Powders, who are best known for their protein powder). Complete Greens, as weird as it sounds, consists of only 10 greens ingredients:

Spirulina, Chlorella (Broken Cell Wall), Broccoli, Wheatgrass, Pumpkin Protein, Barley Grass, Alfalfa, Spinach, Moringa, Kale.

I’m not sure how to properly define the term “complete” in the context here, but I think just having 10 is not that good for a shake nowadays. Especially when competition is already innovating with probiotics, flavonoids and a complete list of vitamins (from A and B vitamins to Vitamin E) and minerals (like iodine, predominantly found in sea greens). So what I’m saying is, a 10-greens formula is bare in the world of most greens powders. Then these ingredients are also generic. Not a branded or premium ingredient among them.

I do like how simple the approach is, but I think the price should match the simplicity of the formula too.

Which is the best greens powder for me?

Some of the most important things to consider when buying greens after price per serving is what is included in the powder.

Two out of the three products have no blends, so they are either just vitamins or purely greens with no added vitamins.

Whilst Athletic Greens is one of the most popular greens powders on the market, I think that Verve V80SuperGreen TONIK and Longevity Stack Supergreens are two comparable products with a more realistic price tag.

What are Greens Powders Supplements?

Greens Powders are essentially a mix of concentrated and pulverised vegetables you can mix into water (or other liquids). True to their name, they often come in really green powder and when mixed with water, have a green hue. And because they’re a concentrated combination of various vegetables, most naturally taste grassy (as many contain barley grass and wheatgrass). Many supplements try to mask the bitter/plant-y taste by adding artificial sweeteners and natural sugar substitutes like the popular Stevia – still, it must be said, they are no fruit smoothies.

The general manufacturing process involved begins by dehydrating or drying the parts of the plants, then grinding them down to small particles to form a miscible powder. These are then mixed with a few additives (which are of course natural), so they can mix well with water or any liquid.

Alternatively, some of these greens are pre-juiced, then go through the dehydration process. It’s because some of these extracts have some undesirable compounds that are water soluble, and when they are juiced and dehydrated, the greens are essentially “purified.” Some products pre-juice their greens to improve miscibility with liquids, but this varies per product.

Health Benefits of Greens Powders

Are greens powders just as healthy as their whole foods counterpart – from kale to spinach to fruit salad, juices and herbs? Well, it depends on what nutrients you’re after. And it doesn’t mean you should stop eating vegetables and fresh fruits as part of a balanced diet.

Immunity

Many organic greens powders are typically high in specific vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron, and Chromium. Many of these nutrients are often boosted in quantity to help support a product’s claims on improving immunity – one of the main reasons why they are bought. This would also explain why many super-greens powders today also add prebiotics as well as probiotics, as these two benefit gut health. Moreover, many studies link gut health to our overall immunity.

Digestion

Greens powder is a source of dietary fibre due to the nature of the ingredients. Fibre, especially insoluble fibre, helps the body eliminate faecal matter in a more efficient manner.

Many greens powder also include digestive enzymes which help the body readily break down and absorb nutrients upon ingestion.

May reduce risks of chronic disease

Green powders are known to be a natural source of potent antioxidants as well as ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidants – as found in chia seeds, nut butter and whole vegetables – are known to help lower oxidative damage (which can be caused by environmental pollutants or stress) which can indirectly result in a stronger immunity. Inflammation has been cited to be a major cause of many diseases linked to humans, and so ingesting ingredients from superfoods with anti-inflammatory properties should help reduce overall inflammation and related health problems. There is also the benefit of more healthy skin.

Could improve energy levels

Some of the ingredients commonly found in greens powders may have stimulatory properties. Ingredients like green tea extract, while not a common energy ingredient, contain caffeine. Other greens may also give your metabolism an extra boost which can translate to more energy.

Helps reduce stress

Some organic greens powders add adaptogens to their formula. Adaptogens are extracts specifically known to combat stress. Some of the more popular ones are rhodiola rosea and ashwagandha.

Can help with weight management

Many greens powders have some form of appetite suppressing benefit, mainly due to fibre content as well as just having ingredients with active compounds that help suppress appetite. Some also consider greens powder as a healthier alternative to snacks or something to help fill the stomach in-between main meals – they are not to be considered one meal. Organic greens powders are naturally low in calories, unless the formula contains protein or healthy fats – always read the nutrition label.

Overall alternative nutrient source

Some super greens powders advocates take these products because of how industrial farming has deteriorated topsoil nutrition which then results in less nutritious crops and vegetables.
